What is a yeast infection?

Fungus on the feet or anywhere else on the skin is not dangerous, but can cause itching and burning.

The fungus thrives where it is damp and hot. Clear signs of yeast infection on the feet, athlete’s foot, are:

• The skin flakes or scales
• It itches and stings
• There will be cracks in the skin

Most often, the yeast infection begins between the fourth and fifth toe, i.e. between the little toe and the toe next to it. It can then spread to the sides of the foot and up to the top of the foot.
