FAQ

Here are the most common questions regarding mycosis and Gyno-Pevaryl® and Pevaryl®. Do you have medical questions or are wondering about other things related to your treatment? Talk to your doctor.

Intimate

How do pessaries work?

GYNO-PEVARYL® is a soft egg-shaped vagitorium that is inserted into the vagina with the help of the finger (at bedtime). There, the body heat make it melt and lubricates the irritated mucous membranes.

How does the cream work?

The cream is lubricated around the vaginal opening and / or the labia 2-3 times daily until the problems have disappeared and for another 3 days

What is the difference between Pevaryl® and Pevaryl® Once and Pevaryl® 3-day-treatment?

They all have the same effect on the fungal infection. What distinguishes the treatments is the composition of the vagitorium. PEVARYL® Depot attaches to the mucous membrane and acts from there for several days. Therefore, a single vagitorium of this type is sufficient.

Can you use PEVARYL® while you are menstruating?

Yes, you can, but during the menstruation itself, the problems usually do not occur. However, just before or after. The occasional women who are suffering during menstruation can be treated externally with PEVARYL® cream?

Can you have sex during on-going treatment

Rather not. Most gentle is to let the infected vaginal mucosa rest, preferably for a week after starting treatment.

Should the partner also be treated?

Genital fungal infection does not count as a sexually transmitted disease. Spreading to partners is unusual. If a man has symptoms, he can treat himself with PEVARYL® solution. Lubricate the penis and foreskin once a day for 15 consecutive days.

When should you see a doctor?

Do remember to see a doctor when:

  1. The first time you suspect you have a fungus.
  2. If you have a reoccuring infection and are not quite sure if it is a fungus or recognize the typical symptoms.
  3. If the symptoms reaccur more than 2 times within 6 months.
  4. If no improvement occurs after 3 days of treatment.
  5. If all symptoms have not completely disappeared within 7 days of treatment.
  6. If you have sores around the labia or vaginal opening.
  7. If you have discolored or foul-smelling discharge.
  8. If you have stomach / lower abdominal pain
